How did it get to be October already?
The Girl has some dried fruit mix in a small lego container for snack.
Her lunch is a kiwi, some veggie straws in a silicone pumpkin cup, a tattooed banana, some carrots, and a pig shaped ham sandwich (ironic, isn't it?) on a sandwich thin, cut by the CuteZCute animal cutter, all packed in an Easylunchbox.

Hooray for Friday!
The Girl's snack for Friday is apple slices and a homemade granola bar.
Her lunch is some roasted carrots with a carrot pick in them, some Naturebox sesame sticks in a peach shaped silicone cup, three dumplings, a mango yogurt jelly, some Naturebox dried pineapple with a lemon pick in them, and a strawberry applesauce (really unattractive lid on that one... no idea why), all in an Easylunchbox.

Lunch: 9.27.12
If you go to The Boy's lunch, you'll see another fun shape from my new toy, the CuteZCute - the panda!
It can do other shapes, too. The Girl requested a kitty.
Her snack is a banana (not pictured).
Her lunch is a kitty CuteZCute sandwich, with jelly and some sprinkles in the holes (to keep the jelly from getting all over the box, and the jelly to keep the sprinkles on. It's a reciprocal relationship), crinkle cut carrot coins in an Easylunchbox Mini Dipper, with some ranch dressing in a little sauce container, a blueberry yogurt jelly, a homemade granola bar, apple slices with a sun ring, and a kiwi with a kitty pick, all in an Easylunchbox container.
I can't wait to play with my CuteZCute cutter some more!

I have a new toy! It's the Cute-Z-Cute animal friends cutter. It is TOTALLY adorable and so very easy. I like that combination.
It is available on Amazon and AllThingsForSale.
So, I played with it for lunches today. His snack is a banana (not pictured - 28g).

Lunch for The Boy: 9.26.12
Apparently, September 26th is Johnny Appleseed Day. We had some great leftovers from dinner, so lunch didn't get to be apple themed, but at least snack has apples!
The Boy's snack for Wednesday is an apple (peeled, because he complains that his lack of opposable teeth make apple skin difficult), some Biscoff in the small block sauce container, and a homemade granola bar.
His lunch is some leftover venison chili pasta in a Bento Buddies container, raisins in the animal container (a leftover from Easter - found it with the plastic eggs. I have a whole drawer of these things), a yogurt & fruit jelly from the Asian market, rainbow goldfish crackers in a covered silicone container, and applesauce in an Easylunchbox Mini Dipper, all packed in an Easylunchbox.

Happy Monday!
The Boy's lunch is some vanilla Cabot Greek Yogurt (review & giveaway coming soon!). It looks so good. You can see the vanilla bean specks. I can't wait to see what the kids think of it. It is in an Oxo Tot Block - I love these things, but they don't fit into EasyLunchboxes, so they are relegated to snack.
His lunch is some watermelon and cantaloupe on skewers, some strawberry applesauce in an Easylunchbox Mini Dipper, a homemade granola bar (made using a King Arthur Flour recipe that I've used before - but this time, I had sticky bun sugar, which I bought while I was down at King Arthur this past weekend), and a roll-up of salami and Cabot Cheddar on a whole wheat tortilla, all in an Easylunchbox container.

King Arthur Flour Grand Opening Celebration!
As soon as I saw that King Arthur Flour was having a Grand Opening Celebration for their newly renovated Store & Baking Education Center, I knew I had to plan for the road trip. I got to see most of it at the Blog & Bake, but the cafe wasn't done then. It is so fabulous!
I loaded the kids up into the car early in the morning and arrived just after 10 AM today (Saturday), and we stayed until almost 4 PM. I wanted to leave earlier, but they both said "Mom, we drove 2 hours to get here, we really should stay until we've done everything!" I love these kids.
There were awesome door prizes. We got a whole slew of awesome swag. I have some multiples, because they gave some to the kids, too.
We went to a great demonstration featuring King Arthur Flour bakers PJ Hamel & Brinna Sands. They made Almond Puff Loaf. And we got to taste it. Astounding.
The kids adored it. They are basically a pie crust, topped with pate a choux, topped with jelly and almonds. I mean, really. Delish. Make this.
Next, we wandered around the Baker's Store for a bit. We watched the bakers making bread and pain au chocolat. We had samples. So many samples.
We ate a wonderful lunch (and The Boy was astounded that I didn't pack lunch. This was a special occasion).
We had more samples.
Finally, we attended another demo by Dede Wilson, on her Cake Balls. She has a whole cookbook on cake balls from scratch - scratch cake, scratch binders (she used ganache!!). I kind of want it.
She showed us her techniques for crumbling the cake...
adding the binder .....
rolling the balls ....
dipping the balls .....
and decorating the balls.
I want to make myself some of these parchment cones - instead of using disposable pastry bags. Nice.
And I came home with all sorts of goodies to play with! I bought some sticky bun sugar (which I plan on using in granola bars) and some more self-rising flour to play with, too!
Overall, I am so thrilled to have made the trip, and the kids were begging to go back next weekend for a class at the Baking Education Center. It's not going to happen, but I am happy that they enjoyed it as much as I did.

The Girl's snack for Friday is a banana and a Cabot Cheese single.
Her lunch is some grapes, a mini bagel with turkey ham, some rainbow goldfish crackers in a small lego container, strawberries, and a butterfly frozen yogurt shape (I will leave it in the freezer until the morning, and put a really good ice pack in the lunch box tomorrow... still trying to find the best way to get these awesome frozen yogurt shapes to arrive at lunch time in a recognizable shape!)

Lunch: 9.20.12
I hope that you didn't miss my Talk Like a Pirate Day Lunch (don't miss the treasure hunt!), but today is back to a "normal" lunch for The Girl.
Her snack is a banana (no tattoo on it, alas...) and a Naturebox dried fig in a covered silicone container.
Her lunch is a turkey and cheddar sandwich on a sandwich thin, some Pirate Booty, a fruit & yogurt jelly, some strawberries, and a couple strawberry sugar cookies. I used some music picks in the lunch today. So cute.

Lunch for The Boy: 9.20.12
Today's lunch isn't as cool as my Talk Like a Pirate Day Lunch (don't miss the treasure hunt!), but The Boy is still excited about it.
For snack, he has some Naturebox Smoky Pumpkin seeds in an EasyLunchBoxes Mini Dipper, a Naturebox dried fig in a covered silicone container, and a couple strawberry sugar cookies.
His lunch is some watermelon, turkey salami, a Cabot Cheese single, strawberries, and some peach applesauce. He requested no bread of any kind today, because "it gets boring." Ok, then... just hoping it's enough carbs to sustain him throughout the afternoon. We'll see! I think I'll tell him to get a milk with lunch, just in case... his blood sugar has been running low-ish lately... (ah, the life of a Mommy Pancreas...)
