Great Bento Article!
A friend sent me this article from The New York Times about bento (or obento, if you want to be Japanese about it..) There are a lot of blogs and shops listed that I already know about and have visited, but there are a couple new places to check out... I think what the article kind of fails to mention are the people like me, who love the bento-style, but pack mostly non-Japanese food. I tried packing rice for my daughter, and it came home untouched. I think the main point is - Have fun, pack healthy, and enjoy!

Product Review: Keebler Bug Bites Graham Crackers
I love fun shaped things, which should be no secret by now. My daughter really loves butterflies and bugs, and so I had to try Keebler Bug Bites bug shaped graham crackers for her. They are adorable. The kids love them. The only problem with these (and the same problem occurs with animal crackers) is that the kids invariably want certain shapes.
I just grab a handful and they can deal with it. Sort at your own discretion.

Product Review: Junior Scrabble Cheez-Its
When I saw Junior Scrabble Cheez-Its at the store, I had to get them. My son loves all things letters, and enjoys spelling. He once had me pull out letter after letter until I got the right letters to spell a word he was working on. They taste great, just like regular cheez-its, but with the added element of fun. Add a couple to your kid's lunch box and see what they spell!

Lunch: 9.8.09
I have to make lunches for the boy in addition to the normal lunches for the girl for the next couple of weeks, due to my mother-in-law going on vacation... so, more lunch fun!
The boy has a spinach whole wheat tortilla with tahini free-hummus on it, yellow baby carrot sticks, Tahini-Free Hummus (in the red container) to dip, a babybell, raisins, raspberries (in the chick container), Scrabble Junior Cheez-its, and bug shaped grahams, a small banana, and a juice. This is for lunch and snack.
For snack, my daughter has two mini lemon zucchini muffins, some raspberries, some raisins, and a juice.
Her lunch is a spinach whole wheat tortilla with cream cheese and ham in roll ups, baby yellow carrots and tahini free hummus, Scrabble Junior Cheez-its, bug shaped grahams, a small banana, and a container of wild and brown rice (covered with saran so it doesn't make everything wet and get all over everything)
