Lunches: 9.12.16

I don't care much about football - except for the food.  So, yesterday, while The Hubby was joyfully watching his first football of the season, I made Philly cheesesteak oven sandwiches.

I neglected to write down a recipe, but I think I will make them again, and then I will blog it.  They were basically shaved steak cooked with peppers, onions, and mushrooms, along with some spices, and topped with American cheese.  I put the filling over dinner rolls that were cut in half, put the tops back on, and then baked for a few minutes until they were nice and melty.

And, it made a lot - so leftovers are in lunches!

Sandwich: 25g, grapes: 6g, apple slices: 10g, ground cherries: 4g

Lunches: 9.9.16

It's Friday!  Its been a hot week here in Vermont - and a busy one!   We are looking forward to the weekend, that's for sure.
Ground cherries: 4g, grapes: 6g, apple slices: 8g, wrap: 18g

The Boy has some ground cherries, grapes, apple slices (from his own tree - it is young and only gives a few apples, which he rightfully claims as his own), and a wrap with hummus, cheese, ham, and spinach.  His snack is a granola bar (not pictured, 24g).

Lunches: 9.8.16

I got some Pocky for the kids when we went to ComicCon a couple of weeks ago - it was at a Japanese-themed booth.  I know that spring rolls are not Japanese, but the Pocky goes better in these lunches than in a regular lunch with a wrap or the like.

Spring rolls: 22g, fruit leather: 12g, Pocky: 5g, grapes: 6g, ground cherries: 5g

The Boy has two chicken spring rolls (from Trader Joe's), along with Pocky, a fruit leather, ground cherries, and grapes.  His snack is an applesauce (not pictured, 15g).

Taco Tuesday = Taco Lunches Wednesday.  Not quite the same ring to it, but.. still delicious!

I've been using the marinated Mole Chicken from Trader Joe's for tacos... that stuff is amazing.

Lunches: 9.6.16

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!  I made a wedding cake for a friend, and I will be blogging it soon, because I was super proud of it.  Really.  I took two days off work to make the cakes, to make sure it was right.

I have no problem saying... I did well.  The Bride and Groom were happy.  The cake was delicious.  Very pleased.

And now, it's time for school again!
Hey look, ground cherries!

A friend gave us some ground cherries, which The Boy decided he is especially fond of.  I always love a good fun fruit, so I'm thrilled to put them in lunches!

Ground cherries: 4g, grapes: 8g, wrap: 15g, carrots: 3g, egg: 0g

The Boy has some ground cherries, big grapes ("Sweet Celebration" variety), a wrap with ham, cheese, hummus, and spinach, along with baby rainbow carrots, and a hard boiled egg (wrapped in plastic wrap, so that it keeps it's egginess to itself.  His snack is a PB&J bar (from Trader Joe's, not pictured, 23g)

The Girl also has ground cherries, grapes, a wrap with ham, cheese, hummus, and spinach, rainbow baby carrots, and a hard boiled egg.
