Review & Giveaway: Funbites

Happy New Year's to my wonderful readers!  I hope that yours was delightful.  A bit later, I'll be sharing a (Not-Fit-For-Kids) recipe for a Mimosa roll cake I made for dessert last night... and I plan to do some more baking and cooking today, to get ready for the return of school (yogurt's in the crockpot as I type!)

But first, I wanted to get the New Year started right with a Giveaway!

A while back, the good folks at Funbites sent me their neat cutters (cubes and heart/shapes) to try out.  They are pretty neat... I wish that I had them when the kids were younger.  They are great for making bite sized pieces out of food.

Honestly, I had limited success with apples...
I've seen other bloggers use them on quesadillas and pancakes with great results.  I just used it on some lunch meat tonight and it was awesome.  So, flatter is better when it comes to Funbites.  :)

They would be awesome for hot dogs for toddlers and hunks of meat (like ham or sausage)

The good people at Funbites are offering one of my lucky readers the chance to win one set of their choosing - hearts or cubes.

To enter - please visit Funbites and then come back here and tell me which set you'd like to have, and what you would like to try cutting into fun little bites with it.  I encourage you to "like" them on Facebook, because they are cool, but I won't make that a requirement.  (While you are at it, if you don't "like" Lunches Fit For a Kid on Facebook yet, you should.  This is also not required, but I love to see you all over there!  It puts a big smile on my face.)

As always, I need a way to contact you.  Anonymous commenters, with no contact information, cannot win.  If I can't contact you, I can't get your information to FunBites and you can't get your prize.  Simple as that.  US entries only, please.

One comment per person, please.

I will choose a winner, using Random.org, on Friday, January 6th at 6 PMish, EST.  If the winner doesn't get in touch with me within 48 hours, I reserve the right to pick a new winner.

  2. I would love the squares for my kids. I would use on pancakes and fruit. Just curious how you keep the apples from browning before lunch. I sent slices with my kids once but they didn't eat them because they turned brown.

  4. I would love the square Funbites.

Fruit Fresh is what I use on produce to preserve color and avoid browning (Jicima, apples, pears etc.) It is usually with the canning supplies.

Here is a picture of the Fruit fresh:

I think the Funbites would be great for melon. I wonder how this would work with fruits I have trouble cutting into cute little pieces, like mango or papaya? Do you think you could push against a slice and then "peel" the skin off?

  5. I think the squares would be nice, since my son tends to eat better if things are cut up into bite sized pieces. I think it would also be easier to pack into lunch boxes.

  6. These look like a lot of fun! Our family resolution is to give up the school's hot lunches after learning it would be healthier to eat a McD Happy Meal everyday than to eat the school's meal.

  7. I like the square one since it is more gender neutral. I bet this would be good to throw in the diaper bag so you don't spend a whole meal out chopping up food for little ones!

  8. I'd love the square set! My kids love home made "lunchables" and this would be an easy fast way to chop everything up.....I'd do lunch meat and a variety of cheeses!

  9. I would like the the cube cutter for my two boys. I think it would be fun and a lot easier to cut grilled chicken breasts. I usually slice them to put in the boys lunch along with some kind of dipping sauce.

  19. I love these! I would use the heart set for EVERYTHING...meat, cheese, fruit, tofu. I've just started making bento for my husband's lunch at work and for my son and I when we go out during the day. I love that the heart cutter is so versatile because of all the different shapes inside of it (the little boats on their website made me smile!).
